1-. Are you just a native speaker offering what you can?
No! I have training teaching a second language. I am a certified ESL teacher, VCC graduated. I taught Spanish in Mexico for around 3 years, to executives and their families, so I have taught beginners and intermediate/advanced students. I have experience teaching languages, as I have taught also English, one on one and in a classroom environment. In addition, I worked as a Marketing Professor for some universities in my home country.
2- What is your teaching style like?
I like to have a conversational approach, as I strongly believe that the main goal when learning a new language is being able to communicate. Of course, I will be totally focused on your interests and needs. For example, if your objective is to learn more about grammar, I can design the class to be more grammar oriented.
3- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in New Westminster (Uptown),
4- Do you have experience teaching beginners? I don't know any Spanish!
Yes! I teach all levels. I tailor the classes according to your needs, level and learning pace, whether it's for travelling, a review for a test or just general interest.
5- Do you use a text book?
I try to adapt the material to suit your needs, and usually I use the book "Soleado"
6- Do I have to do homework?
It's up to you. I understand some people don't have the time to do homework but learning a language requires a lot of practice. Homework help to reinforce what you have learned during the class.
6- Do you tutor children?
No. I specialize in tutoring adults (18+). I have some colleagues who tutor children, and I will be happy to refer you to them.
